My grandfather pulled my dad out of school in the fourth grade to work full-time at the family’s dairy just outside his hometown of Guadalajara, Jalisco. When I was in the fourth grade, my father was taking me to baseball games.

This piece is a declaration of appreciation for the struggles that our progenitors endured; the struggles of working conditions, migration, activism and beyond.
